You need to remove the computer case completely for installing a CD drive. Locate the bay into which the drive has to be attached. It is essential that you remove the outer cover for inserting the drive.
The CD drive also comes with jumper settings and you can find the settings from the manual. Insert the drive into the bay and fix it with the four screws that are provided with the kit. Ensure that you support the bottom of the driver while inserting to prevent the slip. You should not over tighten the screws or else the drive will be damaged when you use it. Then use the IDE cable to make a connection between the motherboard and CD drive. The red wire present on one side of flat ribbon should go to the Pin 1 end of the DC drive connector. Then connect the audio cable to the sound card within the motherboard. If you don’t do this, you will not hear any sound eventhough the CD plays. Next install the power cable and connect CD drive and motherboard.
To start using the drive, you have to install the proper driver that came with the drive. This installation is a very simple process when you use windows. You need to follow the steps in the installation wizard after physically connecting the CD drive.
