There is no difference between installing CD and DVD drive. The drive you are going to use is different and the rest are the same. You need to set jumper selection properly for the drive to function properly. If you specify jumper selection that is already in use, you will get an error.
Disconnect power to computer and open the case. Also remove the plastic cover hiding the drive bay. You may push the DVD drive through the front panel or you can slide it from inside depending on your computer design. Then secure the drive using the screws that came with the drive. Modern computers use springs for keeping the drive in its place. The data cable should be connected to the DVD drive in the appropriate slot. When the data cable has only two ends, use the new data cable that has three connecting places. Make a connection among motherboard, CD drive and DVD drive with this cable. If your computer needs audio cable, you have to connect the DVD drive with the sound card. If you have already installed CD drive, you won’t need this step. The power connector should be used to connect DVD and motherboard.
The installation will be complete once you install the appropriate driver software by booting the computer. The CD for driver software will be provided along with your DVD purchase.
