You need to familiarize yourself about the network card before installation. Before you install any component, make sure that you read the manual that came with the component. Since you have to touch electrical components, touch unpainted metallic ground to ground the static electricity that is present in your body and clothing. If you don’t do this correctly, the electrical components inside the computer may get damaged. You can wear anti-static wrist wrap alternately.
Turn off the power and remove the computer case. Your card may use PCI or ISA interface and PCI interface is very common. Locate the network card slot in your motherboard. You have to keep the case in such a way that you are able to view motherboard from the top. Only then, you can identify the slot for network card. The slot will be usually covered with plastic wrap. Open the wrap by gently pressing the clamps or by just popping it out. Now place the network card gently into the slot and use the screws to lock it. Do not over tighten; otherwise, the component will be damaged.
The installation will be complete after installing the required drivers. After turning on the PC, you can look for the driver CD and use it install the network card. The installation wizard will guide you through the process and install the network card.
