Printer has now become an essential hardware as the need for printing has increased. Many types of printers are now available that can print on different papers.
After you connect the printer, you need to power on the system. Click Start -> Settings -> Printers and faxes. Then double click the add printer option. This will open the add printer wizard that will guide you through the installation process. Click the next button to proceed. Select the radio option, local printer and check the ‘Automatically detect and install my plug and play printer’. Then click next to select the appropriate printer port. Usually, the port will be listed and you can choose that one and click next. Now you have to select the manufacturer and model of your printer. You can find this from the printer manual. Then you have to specify the name of the printer in the next window. This is needed for some programs to refer to the printer.
The next window allows you to share the printer. This will be useful when you connect your computer to a LAN network. If you want to share the printer, you have to specify the share name. The next step is to specify the location of the printer and you can also add some comments. This will be useful for those of who are using the printer. Next, you will be asked whether you want to print a test page. Select Yes to print the test page and then the installation wizard finishes.
